Whole
Foods

|
The
concept of 'Whole Foods'
has been conceived by Ms. Ishii
Khosla, a practicing Clinical Nutritionist.
She believes that health foods include all those
foods that provide good nutrition and promote
good health.
Ms. Khosla during her counselling sessions,
found that her patients had difficulty in obtaining
prescribed foods and this led to the idea of
launching Whole Foods, a one stop grocery
shop for all types of healthy and healing foods..
What
is it ?Whole
Foods' is an effort to revive the now forgotten
concept of consuming food in its wholesome,
natural and unrefined form. 5. Attempt of "Whole
Foods" is to offer the entire range of healthy
grocery to a consumer including organic, chemical
free, adulteration-free range of cereals, pulses,
flours, seeds, spices, cold pressed oils, breakfast
cereals, health bars, jaggery, honey, special
teas, juices, roasted whole grains, snack foods,
wholesome bakery products which include whole
wheat breads, multigrain breads, cookies and
other confectionery products, dry fruits, nuts,
seeds, soya products, sprouts and dietary supplements,
prepared foods, fresh fruits & vegetables etc.
Aim
The
aim is to provide healthier alternatives
to people and to make food available to those
with special nutritional needs like obesity,
malnutrition, diabetes, heart diseases, food
allergies etc..

Health
counsellor, and Nutritionist, Ishii Khosla
is a familiar name in Delhi. What distinguishes
her from the other Nutritionists is the wholesome
approach to health that she adopts. Instead
of dealing with it in piecemeal and doing instant-result
diet charts to knock off excess weight, Ishii
applies the macro-principle of packaging nutrition,
weight and health management while incorporating
correctives to address specific problems of
obesity, weight excesses, nutritional imbalances
and dietary irregularities. She firmly believes
that one without the other is not only incomplete
but also prohibitive.
Having
Mastered Food and Nutrition from Delhi's Lady
Irwin College, Ishii Khosla worked as
a consultant with Dr. MMS Ahuja, Head of Department
Endocrinology at AIIMS and Sita
Ram Bharatiya in New Delhi.

pressure and diabetes mellitus). She heads the
Centre for Dietary Counselling (CDC)
at South Delhi which is a one-stop reference
to address and find long term solutions to health
related problems including weight management.
Ishii Khosla's expertise lies in her
counselling therapy, which is not about taboos
but giving you the freedom to eat what you want
while ensuring that it does not conflict with
your system, health and well being. Her passion
for food, expertise in culinary skills, study
of food science and nutrition has led her to
spearhead the first health food store in Delhi's
upmarket - Friends Colony, christened Whole
Foods. Ishii plans to set up similar stores
all over the country. She already has two in
Delhi and two in Chandigarh. Whole Foods stores
are a one-stop outlet to meet all your health
food requirements under one roof. It is also
the only health food shop which dares to store
desserts, chocolates, cakes, samosas quiches
etc. which are calorie counted, permissible
even when you are on a diet. Ishii has the special
ability to skillfully combine taste, appeal,
variety in food along with nutrition. She believes
it is a challenge to achieve optimum nutrition
in today's life style and is shortly coming
up with a book on healthy recipes.
